The Omron Digital Premium Pedometer is a huge improvement in pedometers. Those little flat ones that are even given away at fast food places are not satisfactory for me--I find they are hard to position and worn on a waist band, they annoy me by rubbing when I'm walking.
This model is a lot better, more expensive, true, but a lot better. Features:
Displays time
steps
distance in miles
How many calories/fat grams burned
Keeps a track of workouts
How many steps FASTER than 60 steps/min (aerobics.)
You can put the pedo in your pocket, which beats clipping it to the waist. For the price, this is a huge performer and it's really a great deal. The best feature is definitely the aerobic step count--here is where the rubber meets the road and you can tell if you are walking fast enough to merit counting it as a workout; you need a minimum of 20 minutes at aerobic speed to really get a good walking workout, anything less is a stroll. It's easy to fool oneself into thinking an amble down the street is exercise; the Omron is a great little trainer-in-your-pocket that tells you just what's going on.
Absolutely a must for anyone who exercises by walking.
