Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Get it now!

I have been trying different pedometers for a couple of years and none of them have been worth the money I spent. Just jiggling up and down or shaking them would imitate an actual step taken. I saw the Omron pedometer in an article in Real Simple magazine.

They gave it high ratings. I began researching it and recently purchased one. It is wonderful. I do wonder, though, why the company does not come up with a better clip system to attach it so you don't have it constantly falling off. Even with this malfunction, it is the best out there. Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Best Quality

This is a nice affordable pedometer which performs its function quietly and reliably. It is easy to set up with your stride length and weight, and it responds by counting your steps, converting to miles and calories used. The aerobic step function counts your aerobic steps for those long vigorous walks.

On the downside - the belt clip is very bad. You must use the supplied safety cord if you don't want to lose it on your first walk. If you can adapt to this lousy clip this might be the device for you.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Immediately

I love this product, first of all, I was able to program it by myself! The pedometer is easy to read, shows actual steps walked, aerobic steps, calories burned and miles walked. I like how you can show put this device in your pocket and it works!
If you need motivation to get those 10,000 steps in (5 miles) than I really suggest you get this pedometer. I have owned two other ones before, they were a waste of money, but not this one, worth every dollar!Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

UPDATE 2009: I don't see prominent mention of the fact that the pedometer can be slipped out of its large plastic clip, and the smaller pedometer then fits very well in the fifth pocket of 5-pocket jeans (the "watch pocket"--the HJ-112 is about the size of an old-time pocket watch). This is a perfect spot: a good location on the hip near the belt line for accuracy, the fifth pocket holds it flat against the body, and the pedometer is out of the way, not jangling around with all the other things carried in regular pockets. (My HJ-112 is still working perfectly after more than three years of constant daily use.)

I've bought half a dozen pedometers. Some were as complicated as computers, and never worked right. Others were brain-dead simple step counters, which were inaccurate and broke within a few weeks. This Omron HJ112 looks very unlikely, but really it is far and away the best; this is the one to buy. It has just enough smarts to be convenient, but is easy to set up--30 seconds. For daily use, it is dead simple--just clip it on every morning, it has reset itself at midnight. It counts steps in big numbers, and it really knows what a step is: you can't fool it by jiggling up and down (like the others). I've counted steps (every time a foot hits the ground) over several blocks, and the Omron HJ112 almost always is precisely correct to the exact count. It's very flexible about how you wear it (upside down, even in a pocket), and--despite the picture--its size is no problem at all. This is really an excellent pedometer, and I never thought I'd find one.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Top Quality

We bought our pedometers in anticipation of last year's trip to Walt Disney World. Watch out! The number of steps (averaged 16,000 per day) will scare you - but gave you a better idea why your feet hurt. This pedometer has become my weight loss talisman. I started Weight Watchers in Feb '05 and always wear my pedometer to remind me to EXERCISE! (I have lost 40 lbs since Feb - partially due to remembering to walk!)

The pedometer has been reliable and works very well. I have been able to use it to gauge aerobic walking (great exercise). I highly recommend this pedometer. I have tried others and they really don't accurately track your walking.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Review

After using, being dissatisfied with, and discarding a half dozen or so other pedometers, I can honestly say that the Omron is the best of the bunch. The setup is simple, it's incredibly rugged (I've dropped it on the pavement more times than I can remember), and its sensitivity is unmatched by any pedometer I've used before. A major advantage is that it records steps taken, calories, etc., even when tucked inside a pocket of your clothing or inside your purse (assuming you carry a purse)...It has a lot of useful features (including the seven day memory for number of steps taken, calorie count, distance). I am totally pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone. Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Like many of the other reviewers, I too decided to buy this pedometer only because I was tired of clipping the other ones to my belt, etc. So, for me, the main attraction was that you could put it in your pocket and it would count steps. Here's what I discovered about my unit:

1) It is somewhat big. It's about 3" in length and about 2" in width (oval shaped as in the picture), and it is fairly thin. But still not too big to fit in a pocket or anything like that.

2) You can use a holder to attach the item to your belt. However, given the size of this, I feel funny when I do that.

3) Accuracy - This thing is very accurate when I attach it to my belt using the holder. However, when I put it in my pant pocket, it is consistently wrong. It always credits me with about 108 steps when I take 100 steps (so, it's off by about 8%). The good thing is that it is very consistent. So I always subtract 8% of the reading to figure out my 'real' steps.

4) Features - I actually didn't even realize it had so many nice features until I started using the item. History back to the last 7 days is quite expected. But it displays the time while you simultaneously read your steps/miles/cal, etc. And it can count 'aerobic' steps (steps you take for more than 10 minutes continuous or at a certain fast pace). It may motivate you to take more 'aerobic' steps since these would be more beneficial than your everyday steps.

Overall: While I was disappointed with the lack of accuracy when this item is placed in the pant pocket, the fact that it is consistent in its error, and the added features made me want to keep it. I think it deserves a 4 star rating and I recommend the item.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

I've worn a pedometer for years and have never found one even close to this for accuracy. When I take 10 steps, it records 10 steps, not 8 or 12 or something else like others I've tried. I love the aerobic step feature. I originally wanted to try for 10,000 steps a day, but since I started using this pedometer I've been averaging 10,000 aerobic steps and between 25,000 and 30,000 regular steps a day. The leash is a lifesaver and has saved it from dropping to the floor on several occasions. If you want a pedometer you can count on, buy this one. Purchase Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer

It's likely that you're looking at this Omron HJ112 Premium Pedometer because you're either frustrated with previous pedometers that you've owner or you're wanting an honest opinion from someone (just like you) that felt compelled to share a great experience about a great product!

I can't tell you, over the past 5 years, how many pedometers I've owned. I've lost some of them, for no fault other than my own, I've given a couple as gifts and I've "Out Walked" some less durable brands that seemed to give out on me.

I used to be of the opinion that all pedometers are so similar that it didn't matter whether I bought one on sale for $4.99 or whether I asked for a very special one as a Holiday Gift. I was very, very wrong and I'm the first to cough up the truth when it comes to high-quality products and honest reviews.

I'm not an Olympic Athlete, nor am I an avid 10 mile per day speed walker. It happens that I have a really bad lower back and other exercises that cause stress on my body, especially my lower back, are simply out of the question. Walking and swimming are the two exercises that I have found to be the most beneficial and the least damaging to my body. Why would anyone choose an athletic activity that caused their body stress or injury? Even at 37, I'm more concerned about good aerobic exercise than I am high-impact sports. And, as we all know, the rewards from walking are incredible.

The Omron HJ112 Premium Pedometer was a treat to myself. And if anyone is out there that needs any of my old pedometers-just drop me an email. However, I'd STILL suggest that you purchase the Omron, which offers the latest and greatest of all possible features and technology that anyone could EVER dream of having. This unit literally has everything you could possibly want in a New Pedometer.

Would you believe that even if you were able to walk upside down, this incredible and slick unit would STILL be able to calculate everything from steps walked to distance walked to calories burned. And if you're a walker who like to jog from time to time-this handy dandy unit can distinguish easily between the two and produce results for the 2 different activities.

I can't stand bulky items when walking or jogging and the Omron Pedometer is so lightweight that you'll often forget that you're even using any device to record your activity. I'm pretty sure I've played around with most of the features, but I'd not be too surprised if it had the capacity to fry me some bacon and eggs after my long morning run! And if you're on the Atkins Diet or another High-Protein/Low Carb Diet, that slab of bacon and those fried eggs would be just perfect after a nice workout!

Honestly, my friends, if you're going to spend money on a good pedometer, please take a good look at the many features that are standard with this unit. I've dropped it several times and even left it to roast in the 115 Degree Arizona (many times) without ever having a problem. Accuracy, durability and practicality pretty much sum up the most important aspects of the Omron HJ112 Pedometer. It even comes complete with extra goodies (a nice strap, etc.) and a warranty that is unsurpassed.

Happy Walking to All of You! Thanks for reading my honest and personal review of this incredible pedometer from Omron. Feel free to contact me if you have ANY questions at all. You'll be SO happy with your purchase-trust me.

Sincerely,

Peter Vincent Cannice

It makes you feel so good when you look down to see how many miles you've walked. I've been using mine for 2 weeks now and love it. It's cool being about to flip to see how many aerobic stepsyou've gone, how many miles you've trudged and how many calories that accumulated up to (geeze that part I wish were higher) and then compare all that back over the last 7 days. The safety clip has saved it a couple of times - once from what would have been an ugly bowl of water!!

I'd highly recommend.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

I've had this pedometer for more than 2 weeks; I average 11K steps per day.

My observations, which I hope will be of help to you in making your decision:

Technical
- The pedometer is very easy to set up; it took about 5 minutes.
- The pedometer is accurate.

Features
- The aerobic feature is very useful and insures that I get enough higher heart rate walking into my day.

- The seven day memory is good and I like the way you can go through the memory based on mode (distance, calories, steps, aerobic minutes)

Detractors
-The large clip tends to slip off occasionally; the protective strap has stayed on and "caught" the slip every time.

I highly recommend this pedometer; I will be buying it as holiday gifts for friends.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

After losing 2 small inexpensive pedometers that simply fell off my clothing, and enduring another that did not work at all, I decided to get serious.

This pedometer is awesome! I Love It! It's easy to set-up, and easy to use. It calculated my steps even when I attached it to the neckline of my dress, as I didn't have pockets.

I belong to a weight management group and we have all been challenged to increase our exercise. We recently had a contest to see who walked the most steps during the week. No one in class had kept consistent records but, thanks to the memory function of this pedometer, I was able to recall and record 7 days worth of steps. I WON THE CONTEST! (Me, winning an exercise contest -- who would have thunk it!)

One of my classmates was so impressed he purchased a unit for himself. Three others came up to me last week and asked where I had purchased my pedometer.

It also inspires me to walk more. For example, at the end of the day, when I see that I have walked 4398 steps, I have the strong (and strange)urge to make it to 4500 steps.

I am a totally happy camper. This is a great product.

It was delivered quickly and it quickly delivered on all it had promised. Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Right now

This is my third pedometer/step counter in the past 6 months. The first one I had was a no-name brand that stopped working all of a sudden. I then went to a local store looking for this model, which they didn't have, so I bought a cheaper Omron model. It wasn't very accurate and I quickly lost it when I sat down on a bus, and the pedometer was pushed right off my pants. The clip wasn't very good and I didn't even realize it had fallen off until I was already off the bus. Finally bought this one a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It got pushed off my pants once, but the little tether clip didn't let it go anywhere. I've taken several walks around a known course and the mileage is right on. I love the 7 day memory feature and the ability to view your walk in steps, mileage and calories.

I'm very happy with this pedometer. The functionality can't be beat, it's well designed and attractive, appears to be be accurate, and it has survived hitting the pavement several times without breaking (I can live with a few tiny dings). It does tend to slip off my pants waist when I'm just using the clip, but once I started using the strap with the extra clip on it, I've had no problems. I owned the pedometer for a wonderful three weeks before I ran it through the wash. I tried to wear it using the clip on my pants so I could hide it under my shirts, but the clip was so weak that the pedomoeter kept falling off my jeans. So, I resorted to putting the pedometer in my pants pocket every morning. Then, I forgot to take it out of the pocket one day before I did laundry and now it's dead. Lesson learned, but too bad it had to happen this way. Learn from my mistake and don't trust that the clip will hold and don't forget to take it out of your pockets before washing clothing. After trying to use two other pedometers which my wife and I found to be completely variable when comparing identical walks we purchased two Omron HJ112 pedometers and to our delight they proved to be just what we wanted. On our daily 30 min.,walk we often find that our number of steps are virtually the same. Other features we particularly like are the ability to hang the unit in ones pocket instead of clipping it to the belt and also to measure the aerobic steps separately from total steps. We both find these units to be reliable and they give us confidence that our daily exercise level is on target. Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Best Quality

This is only the second pedometer I've ever owned and purchased it after doing much research. It is as good as the other reviews have stated! The steps seem accurate, I love the fact that it monitors both overall steps and aerobic steps, as well as tracking calories and overall distance. The 7 day memory is also an excellent feature and helps me to track my progress weekly - as well as making me a little competitive with myself! :) I purchased one for myself and one for my sister and we are both thrilled with them. While the strap is a little tricky to get on, I have had no issues with worrying about it coming off or losing it. (this was not true of my last pedometer). It has only slipped out of the holder once in 3 weeks (because I bumped it) and it was still attached to the strap (and smaller clip) so it wasn't going anywhere. I am very happy with this product, have been getting my 10,000 steps in and would highly recommend it! Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

The Omron HJ112 pedometer is the best. I have tried other pedometers and have had little luck. The others do not work well when used on carpeting and often get stuck. With the Omron, this never happens. I love the history feature so you can go back seven days and track your progress. I wear my Omron every day and follow the 10,000 steps per day goal faithfully. The only disadvantage to the Omron is that the clip often pops off of your waistband. I made a make-shift safety chain with a small clip to help prevent loss (I lost my first one).

Cheap Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer

I was looking for an accurate pedometer. I spend a great portion of my time on my feet, walking. I was curious to know exactly how far I walked each night, so I looked into pedometers.

I chose the Omron because it was supposed to be very accurate with little hassle to setup and carry around.

I have been using this everyday for three months now. It was simple to setup. Took about five minutes total.
The results are very accurate. I sometimes count steps in my head, and check the result with the Omron. They are always either spot on or very close.

It seems to have a bit of trouble with spins and start/stop motion that involves only two or three steps. I can't image how a pedometer would record that, and I don't hold that against this device.

Also, the belt clip is a critical component. I'll explain the whole system: The holster clips onto the belt; the device slips into the holster and his held with a tension grip; a string runs from a lanyard on the device to a plastic alligator clip that attaches to a belt loop.
The device slips out of the holster very easily. When this happens if the clip were not attached, the device would fall to the floor and very likely shatter.
The clip works very well and has saved my pedometer from crashing to the floor many many times.

I really like this Omron pedometer. It costs a bit more than other brands, but it is very accurate and the price encourages me to use it and take care of it.

(I walked 14940 paces yesterday and 12419 the day before. Told you I walked a lot.)Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

I like the features of this pedometer. It resets each 24 hour period, lets you retrieve the past weeks data and is very accurate. The only problem is what you would expect from any such device of this design and that is the accuracy is directly tied to your ability to measure your stride accurately. Some days when I walk I am more tired than other days and my stride is shorter on tired days so if I don't make the necessary adjustments in the computations of steps times stride length I get a somewhat over statement of the distance I have walked. As long as you keep that principal in mind its a good device to measure distance walked.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

It accidently went through the wash and the dryer and kept on working without missing a beat. That says something, because most Pedometers I've owned have died in similar circumstances.

The thing that's nice about this particular unit is that you can put it in your pocket and it will continue to track your movement, so it doesn't have to clip on a belt. It also tracks your movement over 10 minutes as aerobic exercise in a separate counter. 7 day history, and doubles as a watch which is helpful. So far, I'm really happy with it. I love this pedometer! It fits in you pocket, which is great because I've had several pedometers that have belt clips that break and render them useless. And because it works in you pocket or bag you can conceal it so that you don't have people gawking at you or nagging you about what it is (most people I know thinks it is a pocket watch). You can change the battery when it eventually runs out, where other don't.
the HJ-112 does have a couple of very minor drawbacks though:
1)The belt clip doesn't secure the pedometer as much as I'd like; however, it safety clip to keep you from losing it.
2)It doesn't time your casual steps. There are pedometers out there that time your casual and aerobic steps seperately. This pedometer would have been perfect if it did the same.
3)it's a bit large, which is why I rarely where it on a belt clip (see drawback #1).

But all in all, it is the most durable pedometer and the best I've had so far.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Don't believe the review which suggests the pedometer is too big - the reviewer MUST be referring to a different model. Mine is the size of a very small stopwatch and can be worn in the pockets of just about anything, invisibly.

It is a very accurate pedometer, does NOT need to be worn in a 'sweet spot' above the hips. It's great to be able to carry it in your purse, as not all outfits look good with a silly gadget stuck to the waist. It's also a fab device for keeping fit. I'm a very active person and was amazed at how well 10,000 steps makes you feel.

I have been entirely pleased with this pedometer. I bought one a couple of months ago after checking reviews and ratings online. It costs a bit more than other pedometers, but is well worth the price. I have found its step counts and mileage to be quite accurate after calibrating as directed. The instructions are also a bit conservative in telling you which positions will not work: I have found it to be accurate even in some of the situations that are not quite kosher according to them.

I had a small problem that I needed to write to Omron about, and their response exceeded my wildest dreams in terms of speed and thoroughness.

I have spoken to others who have bought other brands of pedometer and I must say that all in all, this one gives excellent value for the price, and incredible customer service.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Decide Now

I've been walking daily for some time now. I was surprised by how inaccurate my old pedometer was. I'd get it calibrated to .5 mile (I sometimes walk a known .5 mile track) and it would measure .38 the next lap. Very frustrating. On the bright side, after checking the mileage on my various routes, I discovered I had been walking further than I thought. So I set out to find an accurate pedometer and the reviews on this Omron HJ112 led me to select it. I had it calibrated by my 3rd .5 mile lap and it has been dead on ever since. I counted 100 actual steps and it measured as 96 steps. There were some complaints about it falling off or being lost. I've been using it over a week and haven't had it fall out of the holder yet. It came with a strap that has a clip on it, I've been using the clip in addition to the holder in case it would happen to fall out. Some complined it was big. It's smaller then my old one, I think it's a good average size. The 7 day memory and auto reset to 0 are nice features. Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

The other reviewers have covered the functions, so I'll just say what I've done with it.
I bought it after reviews here, & from a leading consumer testing service who recommended it. I have found it very accurate. I don't wear it on my hip at all. I put it in my pants pocket, or clipped to my collar on my T-Shirt. It is incredibly accurate & I tested it against my Garmin Vista GPS. It was accurate to within 20 steps!
Then, I had it in my gym shorts pocket & went swimming with it by accident (forgot it was in the pocket). I thought I'd ruined it as the display went blank. But 3 days later, then display came back on & it works as good as new.
So, It can be worn anywhere, even positioned sideways, put in water, dropped on the ground & it still works.
The only situation I found it wasn't accurate is on a treadmill, I don't know why.
But, I couldn't ask for more.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Buy Now

After owning a couple of Sportlines that were usually inaccurate, and reading all the reviews about the Omron, I bought it hoping it would be The One. Turns out it's sorta OK. For one thing, it's larger than I expected, about the size of a small cell phone. If you look at other Omron products in the drug store, you'll see they use the same "cabinet" for most of their medical monitors, so it was not designed as a pedometer. Some reviewers said they could pop it in their pocket and they were all set. But it's too bulky for a shirt pocket, and any pocket below the waist -- other than a coin pocket -- gives a highly exaggerated reading. It's also more vertical than horizontal, so if you clip it to your waist it looks like a cell phone, which isn't too bad unless you already have a cell phone. Just like the Sportlines, you pretty much have to put it on a "sweet spot" near the front of one hip or the other, or in the coin pocket of your pants if you happen to have one. It is more generous than the Sportlines about where you can place it on your belt. Unlike others that can fold down so you can read them without taking them off, the Omron has to be slipped out of its holder, or you have to leave it in its holder and take it off. If you get a really good grip on it, you find out the reset button is pretty sensitive, and your day's results are wiped out.
So instead of having a pedometer I can live with seven days a week, I only use it on Saturdays, because it's too much to lug around on the job.
I'll keep it until I get some mileage out of it, and because I'm tired of shopping. But I won't recommend it.

When I was researching pedometers to buy, I studied the information on at least 50. This one had almost every feature I was looking for (lacking only a pulsemeter), including number of steps, number of aerobic steps, number of minutes spent in aerobic zone, calories burned and miles walked.

I went ahead and bought one from another online source for somewhat less than advertized at Amazon. What can I say? It really is incredibly accurate. It's a great incentive for me to get in my exercise for the day. It's easy to program and use. I ended up buying one for my dad to use, and he loves his, too!Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Best Quality

This is my third pedometer. It is by far the BEST pedometer I have ever owned. The best feature is the safety clip which prevents the pedometer from inadvertently falling to the ground. The features are super-easy to use. The numbers are easy to read. I love how the unit re-sets itself to zero overnight. I love being able to review the previous week's results, too. It is lightweight and fits easily into a pocket. The results are totally reliable, even when kept in a pocket. I prefer to keep it in my pocket, actually. It's more discreet than wearing it on my waistband for all to see. I love it so much, I want to order another one just in case this one ever breaks. Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer Immediately

I have tried to get to grips with a few pedometers and most are fraught with very similar problems, which basically amount to cheap, unreliable technology and poor design. This one has none of those problems, it is extremely sensitive and accurate, the design is simple, functional and robust.
When you consider that walking has become the "new black" of the exercise world and requires two basic peices of equipment, one need is fulfilled well by buying this, (the other equipment is good shoes ofcourse!). I aim for an average target of 10 000 steps a day which amounts to 5 miles and is really doable if you forgo a few rubbish TV programmes a day, get a good portable music system and you are well on the way to enjoying your exercise regime. In the 2 months I have been doing this regime I have lost 14lb! and I have to say without the little gem here discussed I am not sure calculating and averaging my output would have been as easy. Previous pedometers I have owned have stopped, deleted recordings half way through walks, snapped at the belt clip device or just plain died.
This one is an absolute workhorse and has given accurate readings and no trouble so far, well worth the bit more it costs.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer This instant

I like it. It is good. It does seem a little finnicky from time to time - overcounting or undercounting steps. It definitely has it's good and bad positions for counting steps. I have droped three or four times on concrete and it keeps on ticking.Get more detail about Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer.
